Use the externalCommands property to find out whether a particular external command is available for use in handlers, or to list all the available external commands.

Value:

The externalCommands of a stack reports a list of available external commands, one per line.

This property is read-only and cannot be set.

Comments:

You use an external command in a handler the same way you use one of Revolution's built-in commands.

Cross-platform caution! It is not possible to load externals written for PowerPC in an application running natively on an Intel Mac. To get around this limitation either use Universal Binary externals, or run the program under Rosetta.

Changes to Revolution:

Support for using the externalCommands property on OS X systems was added in version 2.0.
